Hi, I wonder if anyone can help a man much in need.
I have a MIDI controller keyboard connected to my brand new Alesis i02 Express, and I'm trigger sounds from a Roland U220 sound box via MIDI. I'm running the DAW provided with the Alesis (Cubase LE 5) on a laptop running Windows 7.
I've downloaded the ASIO4ALL driver and installed it, and I've disabled the local PC sound cards in place of the Alesis. Everything looks right: i.e. The Devices can see the ios2 as both input and output, and they are activated. I've created MIDI tracks with the correct MIDI channels for patches on the sound box.
When I play the k/b controller, I get a red MIDI IN signal on the Alesis, but only intermittent signals on the record-enabled MIDI track, and again only intermittent signals through to the sound box. These signals clearly aren't note on/note off. I've tried adjusting every sensible setting, to no avail.
I had the system working initially, but had to dismantle it and when I reassembled it, I experienced this problem. i'm confident all MIDI cables are connected correctly. The only other thing that I changed was I downloaded a trial version of the DAW 'Reaper' to take a look at it. Don't know whether this could have interfered with the setup.
I took my setup into a music shop recently, and to discount the Alesis being faulty, I asked them to plug in a different interface. They plugged in the M-Box M-track Plus and everything immediately worked correctly. I deduced from this that the Alesis was faulty and swapped it out, but when I got home and plugged everything up again, I had the exact same problem.
Any advice gratefully received. HELP!!
